Revised 2010 Season Schedule –
Changes Include Just One Mountain
Motor Nationals and the Addition of
the Call Out at the Creek, the Match
Race Madness and NSCRA
January 22, 2010
Our best effort is put forth each season to release our racing schedule as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this goal also comes with the chance that something will happen creating a situation that will require a change to our posted schedule. This can be anything from an obstacle to an opportunity; and the following revised 2010 schedule includes an exciting mix of both!
Our recent obstacle was ADRL's moving of their dates which ultimately ended up right on top of both of our previously schedule Mountain Motor Nationals. Our solution was to move the first Mountain Motor Nationals in May up one week earlier and push the Big Rig Truck Nationals one week later. The second Mountain Motor Nationals scheduled on September 24-25th was unable to move due to scheduling conflicts and has been replaced altogether with the Match Race Madness (an oldie but certainly a goodie).
On the flip side, highlighting our opportunities is an all-new event on Sunday, June 20th called the “Call Out at the Creek” featuring Pro Outlaw Doorslammers, Southern Outlaw Top Sportsman Quick 32's and plenty of high profile grudge and match racing. Another exciting juncture is the signing of a multi-year deal in which the National Sport Compact Racing Association (nscra.com) will be coming to MIR for three national tour events! The NSCRA will be replacing MIR’s previous Imstar Sport Compact Series.
“MIR’s 2010 season schedule has an
exciting line up of popular events
and new races! You’ll see the return
of MIR’s legendary special events
including the Mountain Motor
Nationals and the debut of the
all-new Legends at Budds Creek
nostalgia event,” stated Royce
Miller, Promoter and President of
Maryland Int’l Raceway. “This year’s
schedule is all about our racers and
fans. We have kept and expanded the
best events on our schedule for the
fans and we have come up with an
all-new format for our Speed
Unlimited ET Series points races for
our ET racers. Our focus this year
is to give our racers and fans the
best events and racer programs ever
at MIR”
The all-new Legends at Budds Creek
nostalgia event will become one of
MIR’s marquee events. Nostalgia has
been the most requested type of
event by the racers and fans - you
asked for it and here it is! This
event is coming on Friday and
Saturday, June 25-26 will feature
celebrity legends appearances, MIR
“Hall of Fame” inductions, nostalgia
classes, ET racing, exhibition
races, swap meet, great oldies
music, a Craig Hennige tribute car
show and much more. This will be a
must attend event, so stay in touch
with our website as more details
will be coming soon.
The all new format of IHRA’s Nitro
Jam coming on Saturday and Sunday,
August 28-29 will be an exciting
race for the MIR fans. You’ll now
see eliminations each night in a
special 3 to 4 hour, fan friendly
“hold on to your seat” experience!
No more long days waiting to see the
Pros run. Also for the first time
ever at MIR, you’ll witness Nitro
Nostalgia Funny Cars running along
with Top Fuel Dragsters! So mark
your calendars now and watch for
more to exciting news to come.
Along with the Legends event, the
IHRA Nitro Jam and the Mountain
Motor Nationals, the 2010 schedule
also includes MIR’s signature
special events like the SuperCharged
Jet Wars, Ford Fever Classic and the
World Cup Finals. Also returning are
the four Fast by Gast MIROCK
Motorcycle Series events, the
Computech Raider ET Challenge, the
IHRA Pro Am Tour, the Big Rig Truck
Nationals, the East Coast Door Wars,
three new NSCRA Sport Compact
events, the IHRA Junior Dragster
Nationals, the QuarterMasters
Challenge, the Ultimate Outlaw
Shootout and the Mopar Eastern
Classic. There will also be one
Total Chaos event, three War on
Wheels and two MIR Performance Swap
Meets (both Spring and Fall).
The biggest changes however are
coming to the Speed Unlimited ET
Series. MIR has some of the best
racers in the country; and we have
some of the best programs to match.
Completely new this season is “The
Dash” for the Speed Unlimited ET
Series Championship Runoff which
introduces the Mean Fifteens in Top
and Mod ET in two separate 10-race
point series (one on the quarter
mile and one on the eighth). So
watch out for the upcoming press
release on this brand new and
totally innovative points program
(in Top, Mod, Motorcycle and Junior
Dragster) as well as info on other
new ET races like the Team Challenge
and the $10K $2K Poker Bash. For the
big buck Top ET racers, there will
be a $5K Top ET Clash at the IHRA
Pro Am, a Top ET $5K Double-Header,
$5,000 to win on both Friday and
Saturday of the Mountain Motor
National, two $5,000 to win at both
Computech Raider ET Challenge races,
$10,000 to win at the Jimmy Jones
Memorial $10K and $10,000 up for
grabs each day at the new $10K $2K
Poker Bash. Rounding out the 108
race day season is the ever-popular
Speed Unlimited Midnight Madness
series and the MIR Test & Tunes.
Further 2010 additions include the
Friday night Street Strip Grudge and
Test events. These will be open to
all street and strip cars/bikes and
are scheduled on the Fridays of the
larger two day Saturday and Sunday
races. For the strip cars and bikes,
this allows for parking and some
time trials on Friday nights.
Midnight Madness racers are welcome
to come and make time runs and
grudge runs, the only difference is
that there will be no eliminations.
We will also start an all-new One on
One grudge session for our Midnight
Madness racers on Street Strip
nights. Stay in touch with the MIR
website as more details will soon
follow.
