For the first time, after
much anticipation, the NMRA
will be rolling into
Maryland International
Raceway for its third points
event over the weekend of
May 4-6, 2012. Royce and
Jason Miller, owners of MIR,
have been looking to include
the NMRA in their awesome
racing program for years,
and a deal was finally
struck to bring the NMRA to
the Ford-crazed fans of
southern Maryland. As this
event replaces the New
Jersey stop on the tour with
a facility that is large
enough to handle the masses
of NMRA racers and fans, the
expectation is that it will
only grow larger in the
years to come. MIR's regular
program has garnered
attention throughout the
country as they have been
promoting Ford races for
years, but the addition of
the NMRA to their schedule
only enhances the Ford brand
for all willing
participants. With legendary
track preparation on tap
every time MIR opens the
doors, the expectation is
that many NMRA records could
fall at this event - so you
want to make sure you clear
space for it on your
calendar!
This event
will also bring out each of
the NMRA's premier heads-up
classes - the epitome of
Ford drag racing. Many of
the NMRA's regulars live
within close proximity to
Maryland International
Raceway and use it for
testing, so they may have a
leg up on the competition
due to their familiarity
with the facility - but
don't let that fool you!
Each racer coming from afar
will be looking to take
their shot for all the glory
on the MIR 1320 in their
respective classes and take
down those local stars, so
get your tickets early for
this one - it's sure to be a
classic.
How do I get involved?
With eleven classes of
competition, the NMRA offers
an option for anyone who
wants to take a shot in
their Ford-bodied,
Ford-powered car - it
doesn't have to be a real
"race car". The entry-level
TREMEC True Street class is
the perfect spot for you if
you've never been down the
dragstrip before - it's
designed for real,
street-driven vehicles that
are required to make a
30-mile cruise before making
a set of
back-to-back-to-back passes
in order to determine the
three-run average. The class
competes on a real .400 Pro
Tree just like the one that
the NMRA's heads-up
competitors see, giving
everyone in the class a true
feel for what it's like to
be one of the NMRA's
superstars! Bring your
street car, your mom's SUV -
whatever you'd like to race,
it all fits into this class.
In addition, entry-level
racers fit into the NMRA's
Open Comp, Modular Muscle,
and Super Stang classes, so
take a look at the class

There's more than just
racing action!
In addition to all of the
action that will take place
on the quarter-mile, the
NMRA also has the awesome
UPR Products All-Ford Car
Show, which features over
fifty different awards that
are presented each day of
the show. With the number of
Ford fans and car
enthusiasts in the Maryland
area, we're expecting to see
a huge turnout for the car
show. What's your flavor? Is
it a '66 Fairlane 500
hardtop? Or maybe a '79 Pace
Car Mustang? No matter what
type of Ford you own,

the All-Ford Car show. The
Maryland International
Raceway stop on the NMRA
